Dynamic Figure Drawing
Using the black and white illustrations found in this book, learn how to accurately portray the human figure in 3-D and in a variety of poses without the aid of a real life model. The process of drawing proportions is also explained.
This book introduces the author's own systematic approach to rendering action figures that seem to leap off the page. Hogarth's system makes it possible to visualize the forms of the human body from every conceivable point of view, allowing the artist to draw an incredible variety of poses, actions, and jestures without a model and with the correct relationship between forms.
Author Burne Hogarth's career spanned more than 60 years. He is most famous for his internationally syndicated Sunday newspaper color page feature "Tarzan" (1937–1950) and for his illustrated adaptations of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels Tarzan of the Apes and Jungle Tales of Tarzan. A co-founder of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Hogarth remains one of the most influential figures in art education today.
