Genuine 23K Gold Leaf is available in books with 25 sheets measuring 3-1/8” x 3-1/8” The sheets are referred to as leaves. Our leaf is the finest European leaf available. The term Patent Gold Leaf refers to the light tissue backing on which the leaf is mounted. The tissue allows you to easily lift each sheet from the book and place it more precisely to the area to be gilded. The tackiness from the gold size will pull the leaf off the tissue backing and secure it to your design. A gilders tip is not necessary with patent gold leaf. Patent Gold Leaf is ideal when applying Gold Leaf to a flat surface area and is preferred in most automotive graphic applications. One book will cover 1 square foot with minimum overlap.

Ribbon Leaf

Ribbon Leaf is manufactured for gilding narrow stripes or large expanses with imitation gold, aluminum, copper and variegated leaf. All forms of ribbon leaf are appropriate for indoor use. Imitation gold and copper leaf must be sealed to prevent tarnishing.

Ribbon leaf is manufactured by placing individual 6 1/4" squares of leaf overlapped by 1/4" on a continuous roll of paper, which facilitates handling.The leaves are lightly attached to the paper by a thin layer of wax. The overlap lines are faintly visible on the gilded surface and repeat regularly at 6" intervals. The ribbons come with clean and even edges.

Kustom Shop Super Fast Gold Leaf Size #KSE799

Super Fast Gold Size is an exceptional, self-leveling and very fast setting size for use in gold leafing. The Super Fast Gold Size allows gilding to begin in as short as 15 minutes, and an open time of about 45 minutes. Because of its fast speed, it is recommended that for large areas you should limit application of the gold leaf size to an area that you can work in 30-45 minutes. KSE799 is available in 4 ounce cans and 1 pint cans.

Luco Quick Dry Gold Size

Luco clear gilder guilders varnish is designed to be a fast set which is ideal for automotive and motorcycle graphics. Luco Quick dry size will be ideal for gilding in 1-3 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Since gold size is clear, many artist also but a few drops of One-Shot gold lettering enamel into the size to enable them to easily see where they have applied the size. Luco Gold Size is available in 4 ounce and half-pint cans.

Gilder Tips - Mack 1138 Series

One popular size: 3 1/2" X 2 1/4" length out.
Single thick brown Kazan Squirrel Hair.

The single thick tips are more popular than the double thick, since you can see through the single thick hair and you are less likely to err. Kazan Squirrel Hair tends to be a little stiffer and more full bodied than Blue Squirrel, but at this thickness there is not a lot of difference. The 2 1/4" hair length out is preferred.

Gilders Sizing Brush

This brush was designed for water gilding glass with loose leaf in reverse for Signage, Art, Decoration and much more. The hair is 100% pure brown squirrel. The hair is wrapped with a copper ferrule and attached to the handle with brass nails. The handle is made from wood and painted black. The handle also has a hanging hole. The overall length is 7". The width of the brush is 1 1/2" and the hair length out is 1 1/4".

Gilders Gold Surplus Removal Brush

Gilders Gold Surplus Removal Brush for "Water Gilding". This brush was inspired by a great little "OLD" brush used by a sign writer and gold leaf master out of Australia - John Jordan. John still has the orginal and uses it on a regular basis. This brush is used for the removal of precious metal leaf when water gilding glass in reverse for Signage, Art, Decoration and much more. The handle is made from wood. The trim out is 3/4", and the wooen block is 2 1/8" x 4 3/4". The block has rounded ends and top with hand grooves in the sides. Use this brush after your back-up paint has completely dried. You may use a damp cloth (not dripping wet) and slightly moisten the surface, then brush gently over any surplus leaf in a pendulum action to remove surplus material.
