Can I use other brands
of product with HOK?
Any dry product such as pearls or flakes may be mixed with other brands of paint.
Mixing wet products with HOK
is a bad idea.
House of Kolor products are formulated to work within the House of Kolor system where as other products are formulated differently to work in their own systems. When you mix products from other systems you risk conflicts in formulation which could spell disaster for your custom job. If you're going to spend all the time and money it takes to do a custom paint job, you shouldn't risk the quality of the job by mixing products. You shouldn't even use another clear over a House of Kolor paint job. HOK clears are formulated to protect your custom finish with two to three times more UV protection than other automotive clears. HOK products are designed for long lasting custom paint jobs where other brands are designed for OEM repairs. Don't risk mixing products!

Reducers, House of Kolor Automotive Paint Reducers
Fast Dry Reducer (RU310)
RU-310 is recommended for use with our Kosmic Kolor® Base Coats, Shimrin® Base Coats, Kandys, and Klears. Has staged release for proper flow out, leveling, and gloss retention.
Medium Dry Reducer (RU311)
RU-311 is recommended for use with our Kosmic Kolor® Base Coats, Shimrin® Base Coats, Kandys, and Klears. Has staged release for proper flow out, leveling, and gloss retention.
Slow Dry Reducer (RU312)
RU-312 is recommended for use with our Kosmic Kolor® Base Coats, Shimrin® Base Coats, Kandys, and Klears. Has staged release for proper flow out, leveling, and gloss retention.
Very Slow Dry Reducer (RU313)
RU-313 is recommended for blending bases or Kandys and for very large objects. Also recommended for warm, humid conditions to increase flow time and leveling. (For extremely hot and humid conditions, RU-315 Retarder is recommended to slow dry time even more.)
VOC Exempt Reducer (RU300)
RU300 can be used to reduce all Kosmic System products; Kandys, Clears, and all Shimrin® Basecoats. RU300 will not increase or decrease the VOC content of any product it is added to. RU300 is not a reactive reducer; therefore it will not react with any coating. RU300 is a fast to medium dry reducer that may be blended with other reducers to achieve different dry times.
Retarder (RU315)
Designed for the Kosmic Kolor® Urethane system to retard dry time in situations where this is deemed necessary, such as force drying. May be added to faster reducers to slow their dry time in emergency situations.
