Can I use other brands
of product with HOK?
Any dry product such as pearls or flakes may be mixed with other brands of paint.
Mixing wet products with HOK
is a bad idea.
House of Kolor products are formulated to work within the House of Kolor system where as other products are formulated differently to work in their own systems. When you mix products from other systems you risk conflicts in formulation which could spell disaster for your custom job. If you're going to spend all the time and money it takes to do a custom paint job, you shouldn't risk the quality of the job by mixing products. You shouldn't even use another clear over a House of Kolor paint job. HOK clears are formulated to protect your custom finish with two to three times more UV protection than other automotive clears. HOK products are designed for long lasting custom paint jobs where other brands are designed for OEM repairs. Don't risk mixing products!

House of Kolor's Best Primer Surfacer, Best Spraying & Easiest Sanding
Direct to Metal Primer (KD3000 & KDA3000)
KD3000 Series Custom DTS Foundation Surfacer Sealers KD3000 is a hybrid epoxy two component primer designed to be used as a DTS or Direct to Substrate High Build High Build Surfacer, Medium Build Surfacer/High Build Sealer, or silky smooth sealer. Available in 6 premixed colors which can be intermixed for a wide range of colors. KD3000 is an industry first and undisputedly the best foundation system available. KD3000 has excellent adhesion, corrosion resistance, productive dry times, and ease of sanding. These DTS surfacer/sealers emit very low amounts of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Hazardous Air Polluting Solvents (HAPS), and contain no isocyanates. The KD3000 Series DTS surfacer/sealers may be applied to the existing OEM finish, bare steel, aluminum, fiberglass, galvanized surfaces, and various plastics. Its tenacious adhesion, hi-build, excellent durability, and water and corrosion resistance and ease of sanding make it a superior choice for the basis of a long lasting custom paint job. For the quickest and easiest approach to selecting ground coat color, apply basecoat over KD3000 Color Check panel (part # HOK1052015) and select which formula best matches your desired color and effect.
MIX RATIO 4:1 - 4 PARTS KD3000 PRIMER/ 1 PART KDA3000 ACTIVATOR. (for 2.1 VOC, RU300 must be used)
APPLIED AS A HIGH BUILD (HB) SURFACER
Mix four (4) parts KD3000 Series DTS Surfacer/Sealer to one (1) part KDA3000 Activator. (4:1 by volume)
APPLIED AS A MEDIUM BUILD (MB) SURFACER OR HIGH BUILD (HB) SEALER
Mix four (4) parts KD3000 Series DTS Surfacer/Sealer to one (1) part KDA3000 Activator to one (1) part RU Reducer. (4:1:1 by volume)
APPLIED AS A SEALER
Mix four (4) parts KD3000 Series DTS Surfacer/Sealer to one (1) part KDA3000 Activator to two (2) parts RU Reducer. (4:1:2 by volume)
NOTE: GALLON SIZE REQUIRES 1 QUART ACTIVATOR.

Chromate-Free Epoxy Primer Surfacer (KP2CFA & KP2CFB)
KP2CF Epoxy Primer Surfacer is designed to work over properly prepared bare aluminum, magnesium, fiberglass, steel galvanized, OE finishes and some woods and plastics. It may be applied to repair areas for fast fi lling of touch ups as well. KP2CF's good corrosion resistance, fl exibility, tenacious adhesion to substrates, fast build, and ease of sanding, wet or dry, makes it a logical choice for the foundation of a long lasting paint job. This is a two part kit, you will need to order one part A and one part B for a complete kit.
MIX RATIO 1:1 - Mix 1 part KP2 CFA to 1 part KP2 CFB.

Custom Shop DTM Epoxy Primer / Seal Kit
An excellent corrosion resistant primer that offers optimum adhesion and superior hide to many types of properly prepared metal, aluminum, fiberglass and plastic filling materials. DTM Epoxy Prime / Seal, is easy to sand and topcoat with all current base coats. It can be used as a sealer and applied wet-on-wet when reduced with KR Reducers. DTM Epoxy Prime / Seal is chromate free.
Mix Ratio: 2 parts KEP Primer to 1 part KEP 502 Hardener.
Custom Shop KPP Polyester Primer Surfacer Kit
KPP POLYESTER PRIMER SURFACER is a corrosion-resistant, sanding primer surfacer based on an air-drying polyester resin. The pigmentation is carefully balanced for optimum sanding properties. It is fast drying and has excellent filling properties and adhesion over fiberglass, metal, plastic and wood. Can be topcoated with all types of finishes, acrylics, lacquers, synthetic enamels and two-component urethane coatings.
Ko-Seal® II Urethane Primer Sealer (KS) (purchase options below)
A two-component acrylic urethane primer sealer. KO-SEAL® II has two series of products: one series meeting the VOC requirements for National Rule, and one series meeting the VOC requirements for SCAQMD Rule 1151. KO-Seal® is easy to sand and is available in black, white and metallic colors.
