Candy Colors with a Shimmering Pearl Base
1st - One Coat Base Coast Sealer Dark
2nd - Hot Rod Sparkle White, 2-3 coats until a good coverage is achieved, the Hot Rod Sparkle White is a rough white pearl that makes an excellent base for the Candy Colors when a shimmering, sun popping effect is desired. Let air dry or cure with heat in between coats. The Hot Rod Sparkle White may be replaced with 4301 Pearl White, 4330 Metallic White (fine) or 4331 Metallic White (coarse). The Hot Rod Sparkle has a rough, large pearl flake look that will provide a lot of play with direct light and will make the Candy Color seem to glisten and glisten.
3rd - Candy Color, 3-6 coats. The Candy Colors have a thin viscosity and must are more difficult to work with because of this. An even spray pattern is required to use these colors successfully. Heating the surface will evaporate excess water be applied lightly. Several light coats need to be applied. Allow the Candys to air dry or cure with heat in between coats. - Heat curing may be better as it will heat the surface for the next coat of Candy Color.
4th - Clear - clear after the Candys have been cured with heat.
Optional - For an added effect, lightly dust on a coat or two of the Hi-Lite Interfer ence Colors onto the Candys after the Candys are cured. The Hi-Lite Color may also be sprayed in between coats of the Candy Color provided the underlying coat of Candy Color is thoroughly dry to prevent it being reactivated.
Other colors from the 4300 and 4500 Series may be used as the base for the Candy Colors as well. Color keying the base to match or compliment the Candy creates beautiful finishes. For example, Hot Rod Sparkle Gold or Metallic Gold used as a base for a Yellow or Sunset Candy creates a Gold Candy. Topping this off with a dust layer or two of the Hi-Lite Interference Gold is truly awesome.
Candy Colors over Aluminum Bases with Pearlesence
The Aluminum Bases are the more traditional bases for the Candys. They are highly reflective which allows for a lot of light to be redirected back through the Candy Colors.
1st - One Coat Base Coat Sealer Dark (when working with the Aluminum bases, an undercoat of a Base Coat Sealer needs to be applied for its adhesion).
2nd - Aluminum Base, 2-3 coats until a good coverage is achieved. Heat Cure before moving on to the next step to prevent reactivation.
3rd - Hot Rod Sparkle White, 1 or 2 light dust coatings. Just enough to create some pearlesence on the Aluminum Base but not enough to totally cover it. Light needs to be able to pass through this coat(s) and hit the Aluminum Base and be reflected back. The Hot Rod Sparkle White may be replaced with 4301 Pearl White, 4330 Metallic White (fine) or 4331 Metallic White (coarse). 3rd - Candy Color, 3-6 coats. The Candy Colors have a thin viscosity and must be applied lightly. Several light coats need to be applied. Allow the Candys to air dry or cure with heat in between coats. Heat curing may be better as it will heat the surface for the next coat of Candy Color.
Metallic Colors Base for Transparent Colors

Chameleon Blends
Auto Air 4400 Series Colors are translucent which means that the undercoat will have an effect on the chameleon color. Black is used to create the direct, out-of-the bottle color for the chameleon, but there are many custom blends that can be created by color keying the chameleon color and its under coat. Here are just a few.
Violet to Blue Iridescent Chameleon
1st - One Coat Base Coast Sealer Dark
2nd - Iridescent Electric Blue, 2-3 coats until a good coverage is achieved. Other blue shades from the 4300 Series may be used.

Optional - For an added effect, lightly dust on a coat or two of the Hi-Lite Interference Colors Gold. Just one light dust coat of the Hi-Lite Interference Gold will really add to this blend.
Chameleon Colors over a Silver Base
Lightly dusting any of the 4400 Series Chameleon Colors over a Pearlescent or Metallic Silver creates a wild tint. A light dust coat or two of the chameleon al lows the silver to still be the strongest color in the blend, but a color-shifting side cast is also created as well as adding to the pearlescence of the silver. The more Chameleon Color added, the stronger the shift and the more the Chameleon's color is seen on its direct view.
Tinted Aluminum Bases
Mixing the 4200 Series Transparent or Detail Colors into the Series 4100 Aluminum Bases creates custom tinted aluminums. Tinted Aluminums can be used for direct effects or many other ways, such a color keyed base for a Transparent Color or a Series 4600 Candy Color.
