SERIES 4000: Base Coat Sealers,
Additives & Flash Reducers

4001 Auto Air Base Coat Sealer, White
Available in 4 oz, Pints, Quarts or Gallons

4002 Auto Air Base Coat Sealer, Dark
Available in 4 oz, Pints, Quarts or Gallons

Auto Air Base Coat Sealer White and Dark are a low build, adhesive sealer coat. Base Coat Sealers have higher adhesion properties that most other Auto Air Colors. They cover well making them ideal for use as an initial coat.

Once surface has been prepared, apply either Base Coat Sealer over the entire surface. Base Coat Sealer White and Dark can be used to remove small, minor surface imperfections to create a uniform, even surface for base coat color application. Product works best when sprayed on in light layers. 1 or 2 coats should be applied, although 1 coat will often be enough as the Base Coat Sealer is opaque and covers well. Base Coat Sealers should be cured with heat before applying additional coats. When applied as directed in lightly layered coats, curing time should be quick. Please refer to Curing on page 5 for further information.

Base Coat Sealer Dark should be used as an adhesive primer under most Auto Air Colors for more pronounced effects. Base Coat Sealer Dark is a very black-like grey shade that can be used as a black undercoat to enhance the effects of other colors, such as Auto Air Chameleon Flair Teal/Purple.

Base Coat Sealer White can be use as an adhesive primer for under lighter colored base colors to allow for more luminescent, brilliant colors. If needed after curing, Base Coat Sealer White or Base Coat Sealer Dark may be nibbed with dry, fine grit sanding paper or scuffing pad. Any dirt specks or other foreign material should be nibbed off before applying colors.

4004 Auto Air Transparent Extender
Available in 4 oz, Pints, Quarts or Gallons

Transparent Extender is the binder base for all Auto Air Colors except for 4100 Series and 4200 Series Detail and Semi-Opaque Colors. Transparent Extender may be added to colors to increase transparency, allowing colors to have lighter values. Add in small increments. May be added up to 25% of the mixture, after that the colors tend to wash out as the pigment load is spread out. Not to be used with Auto Air 4200 Series Detail Colors.

4006 Auto Air Catalyst
Available in 4 oz, Pints, Quarts or Gallons

Catalyst is a specialty additive that is often not necessary. It is designed to accelerate the cross-linking process of the binder when the area worked on is too large for curing with heat or in cold or damp conditions. Catalyst should be added in 2-3 drops per ounce and thoroughly mixed with the color.

4007 Auto Air Cleaner
Available in 4 oz, Pints, Quarts or Gallons

Auto Air Cleaner is a waterbased biodegradable cleaner used to clean airbrushes between color changes. Directions: Rinse airbrush with water to remove excess color. Add Cleaner to airbrush and spray until color is completely gone. Rinse with water to remove any Auto Air Cleaner residual.

4008 Auto Air Restorer
Available in 4 oz or Pints

Auto Air Restorer is a non-toxic super-cleaner/soaker that eats away the dried paint left in brushes. It works on even the most neglected and junked-up brushes. It is best used as a bath for soaking the spray gun or airbrush after painting. Airbrush Restorer also works as a cleaner and helps remove dried paint. Hardened paint will loosen up and dissolve a bit making the leftover paint easy to remove.

Airbrush Restorer is reusable as the sediment falls to the bottom. Make sure to thoroughly rinse with water after using Restorer to avoid any contamination of Colors.

Restorer has an oil like texture which does not mix well with waterbased paints.

4010 Flash Reducer- Medium Dry
Available in 4 oz , Pints, Quarts and Gallons

General: Use to thin colors for improved flow, leveling and spray-ability with a slight acceleration in drying time. For airbrush usage, 4010 Flash Reducer aids with control and preventing over-spray when using smaller tip sizes at lower PSI settings for cleaner lines for detailed work.
Mix Ratio: Spray Gun 10% - Airbrush 10-25% per volume
Viscosity: 23 – 26 seconds Zahn #2 cup at 4:1, Reducing colors past 25% per volume with 4010 Flash Reducer will not further decrease viscosity. Over-reducing colors with 4010 Flash Reducer past 25% per volume will weaken color’s adhesive properties.
Pot life: 24 hours - once mixed with Auto Air Colors. . Mix 4010 Flash Reducer only into color amounts for current use.
Curing: Use forced, dry air to cure colors mixed with 4010 Flash Reducer. Heat may also be used to decrease drying time. Colors may be air cured over a 4-12 hour period without the assistance of air movement or heat. Curing times are dependant upon humidity, temperature and other environmental conditions. Applying colors in light, even coats without excess, material build-up improves curing times.
Clearing: Colors mixed with 4010 Flash Reducer must be thoroughly dried prior to clearing to prevent possible reaction with clear due to trapping in 4010 Reducer which has yet to flash.

4011 Flash Reducer- Fast Dry
Available in 4 oz , Pints, Quarts and Gallons
